THE NEW YORK CITY BALLET WORKOUT
The Workout is a ballet-based fitness class that allows u to develop long, lean muscles, flexibility and
strength in a manner that is both enjoyable and mentally stimulating. No Ballet experience is required to
take this class, just a desire to be fit.
The exercise combine stretching with strengthening and aim to improve body tone giving participants greater
flexibility, cardiovascular stamina and better posture. In particular, the workout makes people think about
how they use their bodies. Strength and flexibility is gained through the use of natural resistance with
specific gains in the muscle tone of legs, hips and abdominals.
Individuals perform the New York City Ballet Workout for many reasons, including the calming effect of
classical music, to attain greater flexibility, for enhanced grace and posture – but they discover much
more. The challenging combination of stretching and strengthening exercise keeps them coming back, and as
they discover the rewards of their efforts in their improved body tone, they experience the satisfaction
of learning to execute basic ballet technique with the appearance of ease.
Attending regular classes will bring about coordination and poise as well as a sense of well-being gained
from working all the main muscle groups in a dynamic manner (as opposed to one muscle group at a time in
a static position such as those done in order exercise classes). It is a perfect complement to classes such
as yoga, pilates, kickboxing, aerobics and sports and weight training.
